Grupo Piñero celebrates the 20th anniversary of Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort with the official opening of the refurbished Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda Hotel

Palma, April 25, 2024.- As part of its commitment to the development of tourism in the Dominican Republic, Grupo Piñero celebrated together with Antonio Pérez-Hernández y Torra, Ambassador of Spain in the Dominican Republic, David Llibre, President of ASONAHORES, and Christopher Paniagua, Executive President of Banco Popular Dominicano, among other guests and collaborators, the 20th anniversary of the Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort under the slogan ''Legacy and Future ‘, with the official inauguration of the renovated Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda in Punta Cana, marking a new milestone in the Group's ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in the country's hotel industry.

After 20 years of operation of the hotel complex, its evolution and development is evident, resulting in an integral and differentiating offer composed of seven hotels: Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro, Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana, Bahia Principe Fantasia, Bahia Principe Grand Aquamarine, Bahia Principe Grand Turquesa, Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar and the renovated Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda, with options exclusively for adults, as well as for the whole family. Two decades in which it has undoubtedly been a vital driver of employment in the Dominican community, generating more than 5,123 jobs, a third of the Group's global workforce, 98% of which is made up of Dominican talent.

Since 2004, our Hotels division has expanded its presence in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic to strengthen its value proposition at the destination, to the point that today it is the largest supplier of beds in the country. To date, we have invested more than €516 million in the construction, renovation and digitalization of the complex, reaffirming our commitment to growth, sustainability and innovation in the Dominican Republic," said Encarna Piñero, Chief Executive Officer of Grupo Piñero.

In the context of this historic moment, the official inauguration of the renovated 570-room Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda in Punta Cana was held, thus adding another achievement for the Group four months after its reopening, consolidating its position as a leading player in the local tourism sector. 

For his part, Julio Pérez, Chief Operating Officer of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, added: ‘’Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda is yet another example of the efforts we are making for tourism in this country, with an investment of more than €30 million, which has allowed us to carry out an integral reform that raises the standards of the all-inclusive offer of Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort'.'

During the opening ceremony, guests had the opportunity to experience Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda's new entertainment offering, MATUM, an immersive staging, unique in the Dominican Republic, created and produced by the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts team, which interprets the history of the Taino culture and its evolution, making use of four elements: fire, air, earth and water.

In addition, a group of staff members who have been part of the Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort team since its first year of operation were recognized in an act of homage and distinction.
