Grupo Piñero Continues its Commitment to fight against Climate Change

• The company is working on the decarbonisation of its activities, with the ambitious goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 40% by 2025, and achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.

October 21^st, 2021.- Like every year, the International Day Against Climate Change is celebrated on October 24th, a date that seeks to raise awareness and sensitise about the effects of global warming. In this sense, Grupo Piñero, a Spanish tourism company with more than 40 years of history, continues to advance in its sustainability strategy, applied in all its activities and business units, to curb and mitigate the effects of climate change. Its strategy focuses on a business management model that, through the circularity of processes, allows for greater efficiency and better environmental performance.

Grupo Piñero has set an ambitious goal with regard to the decarbonisation of its activities, seeking to reduce its carbon footprint by 40% by 2025, and achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. To this end, the company focuses its efforts on three lines of action, the first of which is its commitment to energy efficiency, implementing innovative solutions in the refurbishment of its buildings, modernising its equipment and installations and monitoring consumption instantly to allow for greater optimisation.

Similarly, Grupo Piñero is moving towards a renewable energy supply, promoting the contracting of energy with a Guaranteed Renewable Origin, which in 2020 was already introduced in offices and hotels in Spain (this means around 20% less CO2 emissions at group level). Finally, the company promotes sustainable mobility to reduce emissions and improve air quality in its hotel and residential complexes and its golf courses.

In this last line of action, Grupo Piñero has recently signed a strategic alliance, through its Turiscar Ecotrain brand, with Qev Tech Holding, with the aim of offering sustainable mobility solutions based on electromobility in the Caribbean.
