Grupo Piñero, Always Supportive: Cooperating with the local communities where we are present

Palma de Mallorca, April 17, 2020.- Human values such as cooperation and solidarity are more apparent than ever during the crisis we are living around the globe. Given the severe nature of this crisis we have launched a donation project in each of our destinations. We are focusing our efforts on supporting our local communities’ wellbeing, this our top priority. Our programs provide direct support to families and vulnerable collectives in the form of health and safety assistance, as well as food and health supplies donations in different communities.

In Tenerife, we have made a number of contributions to the local goverment (Cabildo, Ayuntamiento de San Miguel de Abona), the Santa Cruz de Tenerife food bank and Caritas del Sur de Tenerife (a local charity).

In the Dominican Republic, we have partnered with a local tourism safety entity (Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Turísticas – CESTUR) to make weekly donations that are distributed in communities neighboring our Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort.

At Bahia Principe La Romana, our efforts are focused on the surrounding communities that are most in need, through weekly supply distribution.

In the northern region of the Dominican Republic health and cleaning supplies have been most needed, so we have contributed gloves, masks, etc. to Public Health of Samana. We are also planning food donations to social commissaries in San Juan, Limón and Las Terrenas.

In Riviera Maya, Mexico we have donated health and cleaning supplies as well as food to Chemuyil (a village near our resort). We have also partnered with the local workers’ unión (CROC) to provide pantry items directly to industry’s workers and their families.

In Jamaica, we have donated food to a number of local organizations and institutions, such as the nurses from Priory and St Ann’s Hospital.

We have delivered food, health and cleaning supplies, and other support to our employees at all our properties, such as individual packs, gloves and masks.
