Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, Wellness Experiences and Luxury: Grupo Piñero’s key strategies at FITUR 2024

  • Under the concept “Destinations that Shine, People Who Bring Light”, the company has set up a schedule of activities and encounters where key issues for the tourism industry in 2024 will be addressed
  • Through its brands, the Group will meet with expert voices on luxury wellness travel, AI, the reinventing of destinations, the role of influencers and the conservation of biodiversity
  • Grupo Piñero will also be hosting the second edition of its “Most Ecocentric” awards for suppliers and partners who have demonstrated major efforts to include sustainable actions in their activities over the last year

Palma, January 15, 2024. Grupo Piñero will be present at stand 3B03 in FITUR 2024, showcasing its hotel division on one hand, with spaces dedicated to Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts and Cayo Levantado Resort, and on the other, its Travel Division, which will feature the presence of teams from Coming2, and also devoting a space to Soltour.

Under the concept “Destinations that Shine, People Who Bring Light”, the company has set up a schedule of activities and encounters where key issues for the tourism industry in 2024 will be addressed, including the integration of Artificial Intelligence, reinventing destinations that are in crisis, or the rise of luxury wellness tourism. 

Through its Cayo Levantado Resort brand, the Group has organized a Wellbeing encounter where wellness experts will come together to study the latest trends in hotels that focus on the luxury wellness niche.

For its part, Soltour will be holding a number of high-value-content discussions for travel agencies under the name Soltour Talks, bringing together expert voices to address issues relating to the use of AI, the reinventing of destinations, the important role of influencers in marketing tourism, and the conservation of biodiversity in destinations like Samaná (Dominican Republic).

For the second year in a row, Grupo Piñero will also be holding its “Most Ecocentric” awards ceremony as part of its “We Are Ecocentric” movement, which seeks to convey the Group’s commitment to the environment. Recipients of the award will include those Group partners and suppliers who have demonstrated having made a major effort to add an element of indisputable value to their business in terms of sustainability.

In addition to these encounters, the company will be offering various activities linked to the culture of its different destinations around the world, including Meet & Greets relating to shows through the experience of its Bahia Principe brand, its own dance and musical productions, its mascots for the little ones, and its star “Matum” and “Origin” shows, which showcase the history and culture of the Dominican Republic and Mexico, respectively.

The events at the Grupo Piñero stand (3B03) at FITUR 2024 are scheduled to unfold as follows:

Wellbeing Meeting | Wednesday, January 24 at 1 pm

A panel of experts will put the spotlight on the growing interest in wellness among luxury tourists and examine the trends that will mark this segment both in terms of destinations and of the range of experiences being offered. They will also take a close look at the evolution of the wellness concept to that of wellbeing, as well as the rise in travel focusing on self-discovery and personal care. Experts in the wellness sector, as well as from the beauty and luxury fields, will be present at the event, which will last 1 hour.

By way of example, they will address how the wellbeing program at Cayo Levantado Resort was set up, with special detail on the range of innovative therapies on offer, their markedly holistic component, and the unique body and mind regenerating experience offered at the resort. The event will also share with the attendees the therapeutic power of the resort’s spa through rituals, ceremonies and techniques for achieving the most profound state of relaxation.

Soltour Talks | Wednesday, January 24 to Friday, January 26

Soltour will organize various round-table discussions under the title “Soltour Talks”, with the participation of major industry figures addressing the following issues:

  • Soltour AI: Exploring the Future of Travel: The panel will explore how AI applied to tourism opens up a wide range of possibilities that, if taken advantage of appropriately, could change the model as we know it, always aiding agencies. - Wednesday, January 24, 12-1 pm
  • Reinventing a destination when facing a crisis: This panel will study the techniques that have enabled destinations to emerge from critical situations and place themselves at the forefront of tourism with the aid of key industry players. - Thursday, January 25, 11 am-12 pm
  • How to maximize the yield of influencers’ visits: Industry experts will discuss best practices when it comes to including influencers in destinations’ communication strategies and how this can help travel agencies’ direct sales - Thursday, January 25, 12-1 pm
  • Samaná (Biodiverse): This panel will explore how Samaná, a peninsula in the north-eastern part of the Dominican Republic, is an example of true sustainable tourism development, respectful of the destination’s biodiversity and relying on a sustainability strategy based on three pillars: social, environmental and governance. - Friday, January 26, 1-2 pm

Meeting with Encarna Piñero and Joan Trian  | Friday, January 26, 11 am - 12 pm

Soltour will also be hosting a talk featuring Encarna Piñero, Chief Executive Officer of Grupo Piñero, and Joan Trian de Riu, Managing Director of RIU Hotels & Resorts, moderated by Alberto Bernabé, Tourism Advisor and Senior Advisor at PwC Spain. Both speakers will address the importance of tour operation in the tourism value chain, as well as the benefits and drawbacks of being a family-run company.

Second edition of the “Most Ecocentric” Awards | Friday, January 26 at 12 pm

As part of its “We Are Ecocentric” movement, with which Grupo Piñero promotes awareness of environmental sustainability both globally and in the tourism industry, the Group will be organizing the second edition of its “Most Ecocentric” awards, which recognizes those suppliers and partners who have demonstrated that they have made a major effort to include sustainable actions in their activities over the past year.
