Grupo Piñero consolidates its real estate division offering primary residence services

  • Bahia Principe Residences has made an investment of 16 million euros to develop primary-home services in its residential developments
  • Major investments this year include the construction of the German International School in Tulum Country Club (Mexico) and the completion of the AIRE leisure and business center in Playa Nueva Romana (Dominican Republic)

Grupo Piñero aims to consolidate its real estate division, Bahia Principe Residences, shifting from a second-home model to a first-home one. To this end, the Group has launched a strategic plan, involving a series of investments worth 16 million euros, to equip its two residential developments located in Playa Nueva Romana (Dominican Republic) and Tulum (Mexico) with primary-home services.

Following the pandemic, Grupo Piñero has been seeing an increase in the number of homeowners moving their permanent residences to both Bahia Principe Residences Playa Nueva Romana and Bahia Principe Residences Tulum Country Club. The two residential developments total almost 3,000 homes built on more than 1,200 hectares, and have more than 5,000 residents. In view of this increase, which will grow further due to the projected construction of approximately 1,500 homes, the Group has decided, as part of its objective to be a pioneer in the creation, development and management of intelligent communities, to provide its communities with a range of services aimed at primary residences.  

Facilities for living: schools, coworking, supermarkets and sports facilities

In this respect, Bahia Principe Residences is already working on expanding the range of services offered at both residential developments, with the incorporation of essential facilities that foster the creation of a sense of community among residents.

Highlights for Tulum Country Club include the construction of the Riviera Maya German International School, located within the residential complex. The construction of the school is the result of a collaboration agreement between Grupo Piñero and the educational center in order to offer a much needed service to all residents. This collaboration also reflects the Group's commitment to innovation and its quest to create a positive impact in the regions in which it operates.

Construction of the school is expected to be completed before the 2023-2024 school year, with the doors opening next year for kindergarten and elementary school students, and including middle and high school in its trilingual program for the next school year. The German International School will have a capacity for more than 1,000 students and will have a scholarship program for academic excellence, integrating students and offering a quality educational experience to the area’s young people.

Grupo Piñero's real estate division has also invested in the construction of an integrated coworking center in the natural capital of the Mexican jungle and in the completion of the first phase of the Tulum Country Club's sports facilities and its Market Square, which will be available to all residents starting in August.

In the Playa Nueva Romana residential development, work is being carried out on the "AIRE" leisure and business center, which will be completed in December of this year and will feature various sports facilities, coworking spaces, event venues, hairdressing salon, coffee shop, as well as a children's area and several stores.

Jaime Sitjar, CCO of Bahia Principe Residences & Golf, emphasizes that “with the inclusion of new services we not only improve the lives of residents, but also increase the value of the properties, making our residences a more attractive investment.”

As part of the reinforcement of services for all residents (both first and second homes) at Tulum Country Club, it has just inaugurated its own Administration and Security Center. The safety of residents is a priority at Bahia Principe Residences, and both Tulum Country Club and Playa Nueva Romana have a modern and unique security system 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to guarantee residents and visitors a tranquil, familiar and safe environment.

Finally, and as a result of the commitment to provide exclusive services, these residential complexes are the only ones in the Dominican Republic and Riviera Maya that feature golf courses affiliated with the PGA of America, offering residents facilities that meet the highest level of professionalism. The design of both golf courses was undertaken with the added goal of creating an ecological sanctuary, respecting the entire flora and fauna of their regions and creating a unique experience for all residents.

In short, Grupo Piñero seeks to continue consolidating its real estate division, which last year recorded a very rapid and positive growth, with a continuous increase in revenues, which rose by 40% over those recorded in 2021.
