Grupo Piñero helps slow global warming by planting more than 1,200 trees

  • This figure offsets the carbon footprint generated by visitors to the stand in the latest edition of the trade event

  • The initiative is a part of the Group's environmental policy, which, among other actions, has committed to reducing its CO2 emissions by 60% by 2030

  • In addition, by reporting the results of these actions, Grupo Piñero joins the celebration of the World CO2 Reduction Day

Palma de Mallorca, 28 January 2020.- Grupo Piñero, a Spanish tourism company with more than 40 years of history, has published the results of its "Changing the Effect" campaign. An initiative with which, through a mobile application and for the first time at FITUR, it registered the carbon footprint caused by the different means of transport used by visitors to its stand, with the aim of offsetting it by planting trees in the Caribbean destinations where it is present.

Thus, after closing the last edition of the fair, Grupo Piñero registered a total of 12,901 kg of CO2, which translates into the planting of 1,290 trees of different native varieties in the different hotel complexes that the group has throughout the Caribbean.

These results, published simultaneously with the celebration of World CO2 Reduction Day, are part of the company's environmental policy, which includes commitments such as reducing CO2 emissions by 60% by 2030 or its Integral Coastal Management Plan.

“At Grupo Piñero, sustainability is a strategic axis for the development of our activity. This leads us to constantly seek different ways in which we can contribute to the conservation of the environment in all those locations where we are present," says Antonia del Toro, Grupo Piñero's Director of Corporate Social Responsibility.
