  • Grupo Piñero has incorporated Caribbean cultural influences from the destinations into the renovations and guest experiences

Palma, October 26, 2023.- Grupo Piñero, a multinational company in the tourism sector, is moving forward with the refurbishment of five hotels in the Caribbean, located in Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. With an investment of €70 million, these vacation accommodations have been renovated with two main objectives on the part of the Group: to update the facilities with new trends, adjusting to guest demands, and to incorporate the local culture of each destination in their new designs and guest experiences.

The leisure and restaurant areas have been the main beneficiaries of these renovations, as well as the rooms, which have been upgraded to provide greater comfort and more amenities. More than 600 rooms have been upgraded, including family rooms (2-bedroom suites), Junior Suite Premium and Deluxe Swim-up rooms with their own bathing areas in the terraces. New culinary concepts that reflect cultural influences from the destination and other parts of the world have also been introduced and integrated into their architecture and décor.

Lluisa Salord, SVP Global Sales, Contracting and Distribution of Grupo Piñero, emphasized the importance of these updates: “This year we have continued with our 5-year strategic investment plan, leveraging innovation and sustainable growth with the aim of renovating our hotels with technological and thematic tools, thus guaranteeing the quality standards that characterize us so much.”

Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort: a more diverse all-inclusive

In the Dominican Republic, specifically in Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort, Punta Cana, the novelties are mainly found in the refurbished Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda, a small jewel on Bavaro Beach, which is reborn with a Taino soul, with an investment of €30 million. The upgrades at this vacation accommodation feature a more functional, tropical and modern architecture. Raising the standards with greater comfort and amenities in the rooms; more spacious whirlpool tubs and Jr Suite Luxury with swim up, attractions that will help our guests to unwind in style.

Another of its novelties is that guests staying at Luxury Esmeralda will be able to enjoy new culinary proposals inspired by the Taino culture, which has had a great influence on the Dominican people, and the flavors of Mongolia, options that are integrated into the 26 restaurants offered by the Bavaro Complex, made up of its seven hotels. Undoubtedly, a unique culinary journey for its guests.

Other Bavaro Resort hotels such as Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana and Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro have upgraded rooms with a view to offering new options for the whole family. In addition, they have added to the customer experience a new space, La Isla, located right in front of the beach, which combines gastronomic spaces, a children's area, stores, leisure activities and entertainment for young and old alike. Available as of December 1, 2023.

Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal: A concept inspired by the culture of “Mayan Gold”

In Mexico, Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal, located in Riviera Maya, has made progress in the renovation of rooms, common spaces and updating of its culinary proposals, with a concept inspired by the tradition and essence of the Mayan culture, as well as the significance of maize, also known as Mayan gold, in the area's ancestral culture. Maize, as a symbol of abundance, splendor and richness of the natural environment, is the essential food of this civilization, and has been an essential part and guide in the design of the hotel's restaurants, common and leisure areas.

Its culinary offerings have incorporated new names based on Mayan mythology and language. The refurbished culinary proposal consists of: the main buffet, YUM, with an explosion of local and international flavors; Tikalito Beach Restaurant, with a typical local market design, ideal for tasting dishes and cocktails by the pool; Katok Pool Restaurant, a relaxed space on the beach inspired by the volcanic stone of the area; Ku'uk Gourmet Restaurant, a gastronomic experience that celebrates the importance of corn in Mayan culture. All these gastronomic options are already available to guests. Another proposal is the Ha Wet Bar, an ideal space for cocktails without leaving the pool, which will be open for everyone’s enjoyment starting November 30.

Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica: Greater comfort and more amenities

At the Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica, room upgrades have been a priority in the renovations carried out, where new room types have been created (Junior Suite Premium and Junior Suite Premium Ocean Front), to further enhance the guest experience with a more pleasant and comfortable stay. Renovations have also been made to common areas, with the creation of a gastronomic space with international cuisine, The Round Island, available to all guests.

Through these reforms, Grupo Piñero demonstrates its commitment to the transformation of its hotel division based on the renovation and innovation of its product, as well as the creation of new culinary concepts and improvement of the guest experience by integrating the local culture of the destinations, with a view to continuing to create exciting experiences for all its clients.
