  • In order to reinforce its commitment to sustainability, the Group continues to develop initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and reducing its impact on the surroundings in which it operates.

Punta Cana, December 1, 2023.- Grupo Piñero celebrates the reopening of the Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda, located in Punta Cana, marking a milestone in its ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in the Dominican Republic's hotel industry.

With an investment of more than €30 million, the hotel chain with the highest number of rooms owned in the country, undertook a comprehensive renovation that has raised the standard of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts. The refurbishment included the renovation of its 570 rooms and common areas, as well as the addition of new categories such as the Junior Suite Deluxe Swim Up, new culinary proposals, a sports bar, and special amenities that respond to the new trends in the tourism sector.

With this revamping, guests will enjoy enhanced facilities with a practical and contemporary architecture, reflecting the tropical environment and including two new culinary experiences, unique in the hotel chain's portfolio: the Taino Restaurant and the Mongolian Restaurant. Added to this offering is a more elegant theater and a new kids' club right next to the Water Park, so the whole family can enjoy a complete experience.

The jewel of this transformation is the incorporation of "Taino Soul", a concept that immerses visitors in this rich culture through architecture, experiences and gastronomy. This unique approach is reflected in the hotel's seven restaurants, each representing a different thematic experience: main buffet with international cuisine, Taino, Indian, Brazilian, Mongolian and the snack bar at the beach restaurant. In addition, hotel guests will have access to more than 26 restaurants offering different specialties, 34 bars and the 9 swimming pools of the rest of the hotels in the Bavaro Complex, guaranteeing a well-rounded experience.

At the heart of the hotel, every corner is imbued with the essence of the Taino concept. The lobby and main dining area recreate the residence of the “cacique” or community leader, while the restaurants are inspired by the activities of the Naborías, who worked as fishermen, farmers and artisans. This carefully crafted ambiance promises a different experience, where each space tells a story and contributes to the total immersion of this cultural heritage.

Genaro Benitez, country manager in the Dominican Republic for Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, expressed his enthusiasm for the modernization and comfort offered to guests, highlighting the deeper connection between the hotel's concept and its surroundings.

The rebirth of the Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda hotel, now under the Alma Taina (Taino Soul) concept, not only redefines our facilities, but also seeks to weave an experience where culture, essence and experiences intertwine. Our staff, who are the cornerstone of the company, embark on a mission to provide each family with a unique and memorable experience,” said Benítez.

He added that one of the main purposes of Grupo Piñero's hotel chain is that guests can perceive in each of the hotels the essence and roots of the destinations where they are located, with a view to highlighting the culture and richness of each place.

Meeting of flavors and cultures

At the hotel they will find an innovative gastronomic offer that promises a unique culinary experience: Taino and Mongolian cuisine, where local ingredients are combined with Caribbean flavors and Mediterranean touches.

At the Taíno Restaurant diners discover the local indigenous roots with dishes based on corn, yucca, sweet potato, fish and seafood. And the Spanish influence is experienced with creative fusions, forging a unique connection with the rich gastronomic history of Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

At the Mongolian Restaurant, guests are transported to the vast plains of Mongolia through nomadic flavors.  Visitors will be able to taste the fusion of traditional techniques with local Caribbean products, from buuz dumplings to meats cooked on hot stones, offering an experience inspired by the cosmopolitan trends of cities like New York and London.

Both proposals showcase the freshness of local ingredients, emphasizing the uniqueness of each culture and adapted to their respective historical and geographical environments.

A different entertainment proposal

With a view to offering experiences for the whole family to enjoy, the hotel has renewed its entertainment proposal with the conceptualization of themed entertainment activities and shows throughout the week. Prominent among them is MATUM, an immersive production, unique in the Dominican Republic, created and produced by the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts entertainment team. Matum takes place outdoors, under the effects of lights, sound and mapping, where more than 30 artists, through dance and movement, tell the story of the Taino culture and its evolution, using the 4 elements: fire, water, air and earth. Without a doubt, a unique piece that interprets the island’s origins.

Committed to sustainability

In order to further strengthen its commitment to sustainability, Grupo Piñero continues to implement actions in the different destinations where it operates, aimed at energy efficiency and sustainable management of the territory's natural resources and values. In this regard, Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda stands out for its focus on water conservation through an ultra-filtration system, waste management for reuse, and its “zero plastic” policy, with a view to reducing environmental impact.

Similarly, the hotel prioritizes environment-friendly management, with more integrated, intelligent and sustainable spaces. This is evidenced by the initiatives implemented in landscape restoration, preserving endemic species as the protagonists of the hotel's landscape, and the implementation of modern home automation systems in its rooms, which contribute greatly to energy savings.

In addition, in order to continue promoting responsible tourism, the Group remains committed to job creation, ongoing training of its staff, fostering inclusive social integration and improving people's well-being.
