Successful maiden flight by Soltour from Madrid to Samaná, the Caribbean’s most exclusive destination

• Soltour's first flight to Samaná left Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport on 6 July for Samaná, one of the most surprising and authentic destinations in the Dominican Republic.  

• Until 14 September 2023, Soltour will offer direct flights to El Catey - Presidente Juan Bosch International Airport every Thursday 

Madrid, 10 July 2023. The Samaná peninsula, in the north-eastern end of the Dominican Republic, received the first Soltour flight from Madrid of this summer season on Thursday 6th July, marking the start of the Spanish summer holidays in this hidden corner of the Caribbean. The tour operator and the Dominican government have actively collaborated in the promotion of Samaná in Spain, and the start of these flights for yet another season is evidence of the good relationship between the two. 

This flight, like the rest of the flights that will land in Samaná from now on, was in a comfortable and very spacious Airbus 330 aircraft, in which all 388 seats were occupied. Some of them were occupied by journalists from leading lifestyle and travel media from Spain and Portugal, as well as influencers who will help to promote this unique and distinctive destination in the Caribbean. 

The flight's arrival in Samaná was enlivened with a performance of local music by the Ballet Folklorico of the Dominican Republic's Ministry of Tourism. Also, pieces of cake decorated with the flags of both countries were handed out to the first visitors who arrived on Soltour's inaugural flight. A flight that marks the beginning of summer operations thanks to the support of Aerodom (Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI). 

Direct flights to Samaná will be operated every Thursday until 14 September this year. The flights will depart from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and arrive at El Catey - Presidente Juan Bosch International Airport. They will leave at 4:50 p.m. and arrive in Samaná at 7:25 p.m. local time. 

Soltour thus reaffirms its commitment to a destination with which it has been collaborating for several years. Thanks to these direct flights, the tour operator will introduce many Spanish travellers to the white sandy beaches and turquoise waters, unexplored geography and iconic cays of this Caribbean paradise.  

In this destination, the Spanish visitors will be able to admire the impressive Los Haitises National Park and its caves, where the Tainos lived, or enjoy exotic and alluring beaches such as El Rincón, Las Terrenas or Las Galeras. Other highlights include the spectacular Salto del Limón, a wildly beautiful waterfall that will delight visitors, as well as the culture of the town and the irresistible charm of the islet of Cayo Levantado.
